Picking up scraps of wood from the production of chairs and tables, and scraps of wood from the workshop, he says, "I feel that even the small pieces of wood that have been recently ground off when cutting wood speak to me. Perhaps it is because they have been working with wood for many years and are at ease with it, or perhaps it is because they are easygoing, pleasant, and really enjoyable to talk with. It was out of that enjoyment that I created this." says Nagami.
