Tsugaru Nuri Exhibition

In Tsugaru-nuri, the surface is covered with a cloth base, and then a lacquer base is applied over and over again to create a polished finish and a lacquer pattern. This technique, which has been cultivated in Tsugaru, is durable and long-lasting, and the more it is used, the more the pattern changes. We had a chance to see a number of modern works at Gallery anima, which are still relevant to the present day, while retaining the richness of traditional craftsmanship. Date:October 11 (Thursday) to November 1 (Thursday), 2007 Venue:Gallery anima
