HOTEI (Prototype)

ウォーターヒヤシンスは成長が早く、みるみる内に池などの水面を占拠してしまう水草。タイでは公害指定されているこの草を使い、新しい家具の製作をタイのメーカーと進めた。金属部はリサイクル可能なアルミ材を使用。環境と未来、エコロジーの観点から素材の特性を生かすこともデザインの役割と考えた製品。

Water hyacinth is a fast-growing water plant that quickly takes over the surface of ponds and other bodies of water. Using this grass, which is designated as a pollutant in Thailand, we worked with a Thai manufacturer to create new furniture. The metal parts are made of recyclable aluminum. This product was designed with the idea that the role of design is to make the most of the characteristics of materials from the perspective of the environment, the future, and ecology.
